Signs of Neglect

Signs of neglect are not always easy to identify and could be indicators of other things. But any concerns around neglect should still be passed on to help monitor and form a picture of what may be happening in a young person’s life.

Signs of neglect:

  • Failure to thrive.
  • Developmental neglect – cognitive delay.
  • Unkempt; dirty clothing; smelly.
  • Hungry/Malnourished.
  • Recurrent / untreated infections / skin conditions (eczema, or persistent head-lice / scabies).
