The timeline below shows what happens from the moment you register your interest in mentoring through to your first 1:1 meeting with a mentee.

From attending mentor training to meeting your mentee, the process can take around six months. Most of this time is spent waiting for the DBS check to come back, which can take a while.

A 15-minute phone call to get to know you and discuss your motivation

We ask for 2 references, one of whom we will ring up

Interview

Take part in a two-hour, in-person interview

Vetting/DBS

Complete an enhanced DBS check to ensure full safeguarding compliance

Stage 3: Match with your mentee

We match you with a mentee

Preparation

We’ll meet the mentee’s family and tell them about the mentor

Introduction

We introduce you to the mentee and his family at their home

Lift-off

You and your mentee meet for your very first session

 

We match mentees based on shared interests, age preferences, commuting distance, and your suited level of challenge. Where possible, we will present a number of potential matches for discussion
